What's On at The Lowry, Salford

The Lowry at Salford Quays opened in 2000 and boasts two theatres, a drama studio, galleries, and events spaces.  The Lyric is the largest UK stage outside the West End with a capacity of 1730. The Quays has a capacity of 440.  It hosts diverse events and shows from operas, dance, musicals, plays, comedy, exhibitions, visual / digital arts, and workshops.

A registered charity, The Lowry offer free creative participation opportunities.  Their eight partner companies are Access All Areas, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Far From the Norm, LUNG, National Theatre, Ockham’s Razor, Opera North and Rambert. 

The Lowry has hosted Britain’s Got Talent, The Royal Variety, I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue and Mastermind.  It premiered new musical 42 Balloons.  Other shows lined up include Dear England, War Horse, Come From Away, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Derren Brown, and The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe.  See what's on at The Lowry below and book tickets online.

The tram offers the closet stops to The Lowry.  Media City UK and Imperial War Museum are the nearest metrolink stops.  Click here for a metrolink map.

The nearest train stations to The Lowry are Eccles Train Station, Irlam Train Station, and Salford Train Station.

If you would like to buy a ticket in person from The Lowry Box Office for shows commencing that day, for AM shows they open for 1 hour before the show and close 15 minutes after the show starts.  For PM shows they open 2 hours before commencing that day and close 15 minutes after the show starts. Alternatively, you can see what's on and book online here.

When we know of a duration of a show, we add it to the description of the show on our event pages. For example, on our An Inspector Calls event page, after the description of the show we have added the duration of the show in large capital letters. If the time isn't listed, we do not have the information yet. We update our pages daily so it maybe a case of knowing closer to the performance itself, so keep checking.
