Nik Kershaw

Nik Kershaw

One of the most popular pop stars and talented songwriters of the '80s is ready to look back with an intimate evening to coincide with the release of his new book. Expect songs, stories, and silliness from one of the nation’s most-loved performers.

Ipswich-raised Nik Kershaw served his apprenticeship playing guitar in jazz fusion and functions bands before shooting to fame worldwide in 1984 with the UK Top 5 singles "I Won't Let The Sun Go Down" and "Wouldn't it be Good"

Achieving Platnium status with his first two albums, he appeared at Live Aid and scored further Top 10 success with hits "The Riddle", "Wide Boy" and "Don Quixote".

As a respected songwriter, since the 1990s he has penned the ubiquitous chart-topping "The One and Only" for Chesney Hawkes, Gary Barlow's debut single "Forever Love", Let Loose's Top 30 hits "Seventeen" and "Everybody Say Everybody Do", The Hollies' 1993 single "The Woman I Love", James Blunt's "Dangerous", and many other tracks for the likes of Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler, Lulu, Ronan Keating, Jason Donovan, Nick Carter, Michael W Smith, Connah Reeves, Colin Blunstone, Petula Clark, Imogen Heap and Sia.

He wrote and performed for the soundtrack of the 2010 film, "Round Ireland with a Fridge" by Tony Hawks, collaborated separately with Tony Banks and Steve Hackett of Genesis, and teamed up with Sir Elton John to record the self-penned "Old Friend" duet for the "Duets" album, with the great man famously describing him as being "the best songwriter of his generation".
