The Slow Readers Club
Manchester’s The Slow Readers Club deliver an energetic blend of driving drums and infectious guitar lines with evocative verses and anthemic choruses, imbued with their idiosyncratic brand of insightful and confronting lyricism, all set against relentlessly danceable and energy-provoking instrumentation.
With a cult-like following in their home city, they were championed by the likes of James and, despite still being unsigned and maintaining day jobs, sold out Manchester's Ritz two months in advance, with their bright indie guitar, dark power-pop and ethereally melodic choruses catapulting their third album, "Build a Tower" into the UK Top 20 in 2018.
Reaching UK no.9, their follow-up album "The Joy of the Return," contained even more beautifully absorptive atmospheric synths and, together with subsequent Top 40 albums, has helped them since sell out the city's bigger O2 Apollo and Albert Hall, as well as other venues across Europe.
