Ian Prowse & Amsterdam

Ian Prowse is a singer/songwriter from Ellesmere Port who wears his heart on his sleeve and writes straight from the cuff.

Formed in 1999 with former Blow Monkeys drummer Tony Kiley and cousin Johnny Barlow, his Liverpool pop rock outfit Amsterdam recorded the iconic track "Does This Train Stop in Merseyside?" which was later covered by Christy Moore.

Their only chart success came via the 2005 UK no.32 hit "The Journey", a double A-side shared with Portsmouth band Ricky.

Prowse records and tours as both a popular solo artist and as frontman of Amsterdam, while he is also well known locally as the lead singer of early 90's Ellesmere Port group Pele, who scored a no.1 in South Africa with "Megalomania" but jokingly claim to have sold more of their famous primary colour T-shirts than they did records in the UK.

Tight words, beautiful arrangements and a Celtic influence that is synonymous with the unique sound of Liverpool, Ian Prowe's beautiful music will more than stand the test of time.
